The Perfect Color for Your Skin Tone
Color – It’s a powerful thing when it comes to your hair and skin tone. It alone can make or break your look.
You could wind up with an amazing color that will warm up your face, bring out your bone structure and really make your baby blues pop! But choose the wrong color and it could wash you out, making you look tired and feel rather blah.
That is why it is so important to understand which hair colors look best on you.
Your natural eye and hair colors can help you determine whether you have warm or cool undertones. Customarily, cool-toned people have eyes that are blue, gray, or green and have blond, brown, or black hair with blue, silver, violet and ash undertones. Conversely, warm-toned women usually have brown, amber, or hazel eyes with strawberry blond, red, brown, or black hair. Their hair tends to have gold, red, orange, or yellow undertones.
The First Step in Grasping the Concept
Your surface skin tone is the color you’d describe yourself as having which will be light, tan, ivory, dark, etc. Your skin’s undertone is the color laying underneath the surface. You can have the same skin color as someone, but a different undertone. Here are the undertones broken down below:
Cool- pink, red or bluish undertones
Warm- yellow, peachy, golden undertones
Neutral- a mix of warm and cool undertones)
One big misconception is that pale girls can’t be warm-toned. In fact, many fair-skinned women have warm undertones
How to Check if You Have Warm Tones or Cool Tones
2. The Old Jewelry Trick
When it comes to jewelry, which do you think looks best on you – gold or silver? Not what you prefer or like more, but which one really brightens up your face and gives you a nice glow. Most girls with cool undertones look better in silver and warm-toned women look better in gold or rose gold.
3. The Sun’s Effects
When your out in the sun soaking up all the rays, do you get a golden brown tan? Or do you usually get a nice pink hue or burn, first? If you fall under the first category, you’re warm-toned, while cool tones tend to burn. Fair-skinned, cool-toned girls will simply burn, while medium-skinned cool-toned girls will burn, then tan.
